How Many People Love the Color Brown?

posted on 19 March 2013

Of all the differnet colour scarves there are in the world, my favorite has to be brown. A brown scarf flows with nature and goes with almost any other color. Brown pashminas are my favorite colour scarf because my favorite colour is brown and brown is the most underated colour out there. All scarves should be a colour that doesn't pop elsewise the scarf looks awkward and unnatural. Brown scarves match all my clothes and are the best kind of scarfs. Most people do not wear brown scarves, so it makes you stnad out as an individual. I would rather wear a brown scarf than any other colour scarf. Brown scarves also match the trees and dirt if you are hiking and help you blend into nature if you are hunting. Brown scarves are the best kind of scarves to wear no matter where you go and brown scarves are the best color scarves you will find.

Favourite Footwear: the Wedding Shoes

posted on 5 August 2012

My favorite pair of shoes was purchased in one of my favourite local shoe shops for my son’s wedding last summer. In my search for the perfect pair that had to meet several criteria, I began to feel like my search would be fruitless. But I finally found the perfect pair for this special event. They were stylish and classy, not too conservative, not too flashy or trendy. They were the perfect pair of strappy open toe pumps with a two inch heel. They were a cross between a tan and a stone color neutral without being boring. They go with everything and I still wear them to work with my business clothing. I still think these shoes are the perfect pair. They are comfortable and can be worn with different kinds of clothing and dressed up or dressed down. And of course, they are attached to an event that holds special meaning for me.

Cotton: Simplicity Is Key

posted on 5 June 2012

Fabrics are a big part of my business as I'm a tailor - I order all kinds - from wholesale organza silk to lace to denim. Of all the farics, cotton is the most required by us. It's fresh in the hottest summer and warm in the coldest winter. Of all natural fibres, cotton is the most inexpensive, and also the most flexible to work with. You can make socks, underwear, shirts and anything you want and it will be your most trusty piece of wardrobe. Also, if you suffer allergies, cotton is one of the few materials recommended for that, because it will never give you rashes or allergic reactions. It's easy to wash and will last a very long time, even if you wear it every day. You will also use it after it's completely worn off, because it will remind you of good times. Remember, cotton is also used in medical supplies, so it should be the best there is at what it does, isn't it. So wear cotton, you won't regret it. Think of Fun when Buying a Gift for Your Partner

posted on 5 May 2012

I am always at a loss for what to get my husband for Christmas. The only things he ever wants cost a lot more than we should spend: all the electronic gadgets, etc. He is so bored by opening clothes, even though that is what he needs. He does not really have a hobby. I am tempted to buy myself a Fever dress and give him a certificate to open that says we have a reservation at the local, fancy hotel. Thirteen years and two kids into marriage, we seem to have little time for romance, even though we both appreciate it when it does happen. The thought of just relaxing in a hot tub with no kids whining at us sound very peaceful! Have you hit that point in marriage where you do not know what to give your spouse for Christmas? Then it is time to get creative and find a fun idea. Stop looking at the ties or the racquetball rackets and just have fun being creative.

My Trainers and Why They are a Part of Me

posted on 10 April 2012

From a young age I have always been in trainers. I have had many pairs that range in colour and styles. Even when others wore wellies during a heavy snowfall, I was in my trainers. I have worn many brands including Vans, Nike, Reebok, and Adidas. But my favourite trainers must have been my Reebok Workouts, I remember getting these trains on my birthday and putting them on, the felt very comfortable and light. When wearing my trainers I had done all different kinds of things from free running/ parkour, to playing football and basketball. It seemed what ever I done these trainers could take it, one of the best things about these trainers were that they were easy to clean. No matter how long I was over the park playing football in the muddy conditions, I could just get a wet cloth and all the dirt would be gone. After about fifteen months I had grown and my trainers had become too small so I went to the local shopping centre and purchased a new pair which i currently where today.

The Best Thing About Tall Womens Clothing

posted on 10 April 2012

If you live off a farm in the middle of no where and you grow up being taller than the rest of your brothers you kind of get teased around town and get labeled an anomaly. I was no stranger to this growing up and being at a height of six feet there wasn’t a lot of things for me to fit in, finding tall womens clothing was next to unheard of in our town and that goes to say about everything else that a tall woman needed. Things only took a turn for the better when I moved out of town and lived in Phoenix where the idea of not finding tall womens clothing seemed like a blasphemy for most women’s store. I could wear anything I wanted and be whoever I wanted without worrying about what people said or how people would react if I wore something like high heels. I felt like I had found a new home.

Belts and Hats: the Best Fashion Accessories

posted on 27 March 2012

My absolute favorite fashion items are belts and hats. Sure, they are small items, but they complete any outfit. Let's start with belts for example. They come in such a wide variety of colors and styles, and I can mix and match. Whenever I wear high waisted shorts, I make sure to pair them with a large, colorful belt. Whenever I dress up in a nice but casual dress, I use a thin black belt to instantly add a touch of "togetherness" to my outfits, and they go so well with my black handbags. Belts definitely make a fashion statement, no matter what I am wearing. Hats are another favorite accessory of mine. I particularly like knit hats, which are also known as "beanies" to younger folks. They are practical because they keep my head warm, but they also look cute and stylish. They go well with a v-neck style t-shirt and black skinny jeans. They also look cute with a casual skirt or dress. These two accessories are affordable and absolutely perfect with any outfit.

Fancy Dress: Who are You Calling a Muppet?

posted on 11 March 2012

I never really grew up watching The Muppets. In fact I'm led to believe that anytime my parents tried to make me watch any of The Muppets movies I would lose interest quite quickly and go off and play. So it was strange that last month when The Muppets movie was released in the UK I was first in line to go and see it. Perhaps it was because I knew Jason Segal was in it, or perhaps it was because I knew Bret McKenzie had written some of the songs for the movie, but I was really stoked to see it. And I wasn't disappointed! It was easily one of the funniest movies I've seen in ages with brilliant music and it's made me fall completely head over heels with The Muppets now. The only tricky decision would be which Muppet do I dress up as? Well to be honest I think I'd be restricted by the costumes I could find online to hire or buy, but sites like partyonfancydress.co.uk seem to have a fair choice to choose from. Given a completely free choice though, I think the drummer inside of me makes me think there's only one choice.

My Football Team's Colours are the Perfect Colours for a Scarf

posted on 20 February 2012

At weekends, and I'll be honest most of the time at work I have a fixation that is tough to ditch. I'm a football fan, not just any football fan though. I support a small club called AFC Wimbledon who are my local team. I've been through the highs and the lows with them. The team plays in blue shirts with a yellow trim. The colours were chosen because the same combination of colours appear on the Lord Mayor of Wimbledon's coat of arms. For the right colours, have a look at the Swedish national flag. So I hope you can understand that I have a very strong, emotional and powerful relationship to that particular and combination of colours. I'm delighted to say that the people who run the AFC Wimbledon club shop realised that their fans would like to wear scarf's during those cold winter afternoons and evenings watching the team on the terraces. The same people also realised that supporters would also like to have a scarf so their fan's could wear them to work, or to a fancy cocktail bar. So the club shop came up with a selection of styled shawls for both needs. Some were designed very much to be worn with a football shirt and pint of beer, others were designed to be worn with a suite shirt and tie (and maybe a cheeky pint of beer too). No matter what the design was, the incorporation of the yellow and blue was consistent making it my favourite colour combination for a scarf.

I Don't Leave Home Without My Jacket

posted on 16 February 2012

Being a follower of fashion, I have quite a diverse taste in fashion. From silver occasion shoes to leggings to pashminas, I love the creativity of fashion. I truly do cherish more than one of my items of fashion, but if I had to pick a favorite, it would definitely be my jacket. I really do not like to go outside without a jacket, more specifically my Marmot jacket. This jacket feels like it was made for me, almost molded to fit my body just right. I live in Colorado and it is really the only jacket I need. I wore it all day yesterday and it was a mere 16 degrees outside, but I never would have guessed. The outside does a great job protecting me from the elements, such as rain and snow. Not to mention the excellent wind-breaking it provides for those gusty days. In truth though, it really gives my body a more slimmed look which leaves me feeling less self-conscious about my appearance. Therefore my jacket is surely my favorite of all my fashion items.

Browsing Thrift Shops and Yard Sales to Find a Funky, Cute Look

posted on 11 February 2012

I've always been a fan of shopping at thrift shops, because of the prices and wide variety of clothes and accessories to choose from - from jeans to clutch bags . My husband is very large, and one of my recent habits has been to wear his over-sized sweaters and button-up shirts over spandex and/or leggings. I decided to add to my wardrobe and find more items to get this simple, cute look. I started immediately at Good Will, and love what I've come up with! I start in the men's section, looking for bright pin-striped button-down shirts and extra large fuzzy, warm and colorful sweaters. The few I've found, I roll the sleeves up and pair em with different colored tights I've purchased at flea markets and yard sales. Depending on the day and my mood, I add different pins and buttons to my tops, and sometimes pair the look with colorful, fun beanie hats. Almost everything I pair together for this look I've found at a super cheap cost, at thrift stores, yard sales or flea markets.

Buying the Perfect Gift, Even for Grandpa

posted on 22 January 2012

Buying a gift for one of your friends or family members can be overwhelming or exhausting - I have a friend who makes jewellery with her jewellery tools as gifts - that to me is too much trouble! And if the gift receiver is someone with not very many hobbies, it can be even harder. But what an opportunity to be creative! There is always something for everyone, even if they are the most difficult person to shop for. My grandpa, for example, is one of the most difficult people to shop for. He doesn't have any hobbies, doesn't go out much, and basically doesn't enjoy a lot of frivolous things. I've really had to be creative in what to get him. If you ask him what he would like, he always says the same thing, but I refuse to keep buying either socks, cologne, or licorice! This year I've decided to think outside the box and be more creative. He is a guy, so he could always use guy things like, a shaving cream dispenser that warms the shaving cream or a new shirt. I'm still not satisfied though. Something that keeps him warm in the house? A blanket or slippers might be nice. No, I have the perfect gift! A picture frame with a picture of my husband and I that he can display in the home and show off to any friends that come to visit! We live far away so that would be perfect! To top it off I could get one of those new electronic picture frames that make a slideshow of the pictures. So to sum everything up, try to think outside the box and sometimes, the best gifts are the ones that are thoughtful or even homemade.
